co-Artistic Director and Managing Director: Jean Gottlieb holds a Bachelor’s Degree in performance theater from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master’s Degree in Directing from The Theatre School of DePaul University (formerly The Goodman School of Drama). She was awarded the first Michael Maggio Memorial Scholarship in recognition of her achievements at The Theater School, and served as Assistant Director for Grammy Award winning composer Philip Glass’ and Tony Award winning director Mary Zimmerman’s production of Galileo Galilei at The Goodman Theatre. As the Artistic Director of Footsteps Theater, a not-for-profit theater company that operated in Chicago from 1987 through December of 1999, she directed and produced more than 25 plays as well as facilitated the daily running of the company. At New World Rep, Jean directs, produces and teaches theater to high school aged students.
